Moerā Library and Community Hub

The Moerā Community Library and Neighbourhood Hub highlights Niche’s blend of volumetric and in-situ construction. The building features, hardwood front step and podium seating – with engraved risers referencing haumi joints used in canoe-building that symbolises different pieces coming together to form a stronger unified whole, huge double wide sliding doors, custom decorative eyebrow that wraps the entire building, specialty concrete works, including the shaped hardstand, and huge accessibility ramp, as well as bespoke engraving on the East Wall cladding. This incorporates Raperape, a connecting form, and Puhoro, symbolising energy and movement. This building is with collaboration from the local community and design partners created a stunning, functional hub for connection, learning, and celebration, enriching residents’ lives.
